Chitwan National Park is a world heritage property and known as the first national park of Nepal. It is located near metropolitan city is Bharatpur about 148 km , south-west of Kathmandu. Chitwan National Park is one of Nepal’s popular tourist destinations. The fastest route to reach Chitwan National Park is via airplane from Kathmandu to Bharatpur, that could take upto 30 minutes. Another means of transportation is to take a bus from kathmandu, which takes about 5-6 hours.
Chitwan National Park was established in 1973 and granted the status of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. There are many species of exrotic birds and animals at the park like crocodiles, rhinos, sloth bears, tigers etc . Additionally, domesticated elephants are used for sightseeing excursions for tourists and visitors.
The park is especially renowned for its protection of One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, and Gharial Crocodile.
