Chaite Dashain- 1 Day celebration

Chaite Dashain is a 1 day celebration of Dashain celebrated in Nepal by Hindus. It is not Vijaya Dashain which is also Dashain. On this day, Lord Rama returns to his palace in Ayodhaya along with his wife Sita and brother Laxman after being in exile for many years in forest

Ram Nawami is celebrated a day before this day. Ram Nawami is also Lord Rama’s birthday and the day after is this Dashain. Devotees fast on Ram Nawami in his dedication.. Lord Rama is one of the incarnations  of Lord Vishnu. 

When is Chaite Dashain celebrated?

Chaite Dashain is celebrated in the month of Late March or Early April. In the Geogorgian calendar, this day is observed in the month of Chaitra month, therefore it is named chaite dashain.

Why is Chaite Dashain  celebrated?

It is believed that on this day, Lord Rama returns to his palace in Ayodhaya along with his wife Sita and brother Laxman after being in exile for 14 years in forest. Lord Rama is one of the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. 

How is Chaite Dashain  celebrated?

On this day people usually fast the day before Chaite Dashain. The day is also known as Ram Nawami, which is the birthday of Lord Ram. Worshippers visit temples of Lord Ram. The following day people worship Goddess Durga, worshipping the goddess by sacrificing animals in Durga Bhawani’s temple. This day is also a public holiday in Nepal. People enjoy the day with their family and friends and enjoy the feast with their loved ones.
